Residing and growing up in our Village, Jim Sweeney isn't just running for mayor, he's stepping up as one of us, ready to guide us towards a stronger, united community. Why? Because he believes in Cambridge's potential —just like you do.

Accomplishments
James Sweeney served as Village Trustee from 2012-2017 and accomplished a lot of great things since he joined the Cambridge NY Village Board of Trustees.
Sustainable Energy
James Sweeney initiated the Sustainable Energy Task Force. He started the Task Force to address local issues including LED Lighting Conversion, Clean Energies Utility Studies, Elimination of Single Use Plastic bags, and EPA Approval for use of the former landfill. The Task Force works closely with the Cambridge Central School Environmental Club.
Youth Commission
Sweeney maintained a 'watchful eye' on the Youth Commission. This led to the development of a written business plan that allows the Youth Department to grow and serve the community for many years, at little to no cost to Village Taxpayers
Economic Development
Jim was instrumental in the forming the Cambridge Valley Economic Development Forum and continues to support local business. He remains receptive to ideas for reinvigorating our empty storefronts.
Employee Relations
As Trustee, Sweeney revised and updated the Employee Handbook. He routinely reviews Federal and State mandated policies. This has led to a more trusting relationship with Village Staff. The greatest benefit being a reduction in Village Insurance premiums.
